Photo Contest

My deepest apologies for not being more organized on the photo contest for the end of the year and beginning of the year.  So this is the plan.

Go here 2007 Photo of the Year and vote for your favorite photo of 2007.  These are the winners by month.  Paid Members and visitors may vote here.  Voting will end February 23rd.

We will combine January and February's contest.  For the combined January and February contest the theme is Loving Miniatures.  Don't forget to put your captions on the photo.  Entries should be emailed to krismarcfarms@comcast.net by February 29th.  Voting on line will begin March 1 and stop on March 15th.

The March Contest will be Fuzzy Minis.  For those that have sent in photos, I will post them in the March contest.  Entries for the March contest will end March 31st and voting will start April 1st and end April 15th.

If you have any questions, please email me at krismarcfarms@comcast.net.

THANK YOU TO........

Thank you Leeanna for helping to make the banners for the website.  You are very talented.

A special thanks Dona for getting the denim shirts and Judy for getting the t-shirts.  Judy went way beyond the call of duty in trying to get them sent out before Christmas.  She should be commended for matching up the orders and getting them mailed to us.

Remember.....the SmallestHorse Group is "your" group.  Please continue to post on the forum and feel free to offer your ideas and thoughts.

We are located in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, on one of the few remaining horse properties grandfathered in.  A tiny "ranch", less than one acre, demonstrating our original small ambition.  However, irrigation of the pasture area and lawns allows for full utilization of this small area for the numbers of horses that have increased our herd size and graphically demonstrates how economical these little animals are in land usage.  The small size will also serve the much needed discipline in how many of the babies we can keep for ourselves in the future, since the natural inclination is to want to keep them all.

Needless to say we are quite popular among the neighbors with small children who love to visit.  You are welcome too.  Give us a call.  (602) 955-3122

         History of the SmallestHorse Group

There have always been breeders who have bred for the
smallest perfect horse, but they often felt alone in their endeavors
due to the lack of recognition in the show ring.  Not until the
internet discussions of horses under 30” in height and the
non-compliance with AMHA rule CL-010 E, did those who were
breeding and promoting the 30” and under horse realize that
they were not alone in their dedication.

Through a Yahoo internet group, breeders began discussing
the needs and challenges for the 30” and under horse.  The
efforts were led by Charlotte Lupton, Teresa Palmer, Margie Wood, Suzi Brannon, Kay Baxter, and Arlene Toback..  Through this Yahoo group, the Mission Statement was formed, the logo was chosen,
by-laws written and the first officers elected.  In order to improve communication among the breeders, a message board was
set up in March, 2003 and a paid member group was formed
to promote the 30” and under horse.  The charter members
are noted on the membership page.  Membership rates were
set at $25.00 per year per family.

The first officers were Charlotte Lupton (President), Size Brannon (Vice President), Carol Albritton (secretary) and Margie Wood (treasurer).  From a few original members,  the SmallestHorse Group has continued to grow and has made it's presence known through the website, magazine advertising, sponsorship of AMHA World classes and having a SHG booth at the World show.  Plans are being made to sponsor and have a booth at the AMHR National Show.

All officers and directors of the SmallestHorse Group are
volunteers.  There is no paid staff......so for the love of the
30" and under miniature horse, many people are contributing
their time and energy to promote the perfect horse in miniature.
